What Software Tools are used to make online games like Club Penguin or RuneScape?

Does anyone know how to create an online, multi-player kids game like RuneScape or Club Penguin? I am wondering what software tools are used or how this is done. I have several ideas for new online kids games but don’t know where or how to begin. Thanks for the Answers!!!

I know that both RuneScape and Club Penguin are written in Java programming language. You can learn Java on your own, it might take 5 months at max to learn most of Java where you can make a working game.

Just remember, you won’t work a year on a game and become a millionaire. It just doesn’t work. Work at it and you in due time will be rewarded.

Also, another thing is that if Game Development was easy, wouldn’t everyone do it? It isn’t, if you are serious, be ready for hurdles to jump and struggles along the way.

Go on Google and search for “Java Tutorials”, you will find lots of helpful tutorials!

Games Approach to Coaching Basketball Video (Copyright 2000) (VHS)

Games Approach to Coaching Basketball Video (Copyright 2000) (VHS)

$25.95

Discover a revolutionary and superior way to coach! Games Approach to Coaching Basketball shows you how to use this new approach to help 6- to 14-year-old athletes learn game skills and tactics more effectively than with the traditional drills-first, play-later approach. The games approach begins with kids playing the game. As they play, they learn and appreciate the skills and tactics needed to play the game successfully. Games are modified to strengthen individual technique and team play. Kids have more fun and are more motivated to practice in these small-sided games rather than standing in boring drill lines. Games Approach to Coaching Basketball clearly demonstrates how to: modify games to focus on particular skills and tactics; adjust the difficulty depending on your athletes’ needs; assess players as they play; actively involve players in the learning process; and teach and refine basketball skills and strategies. This video is part of the Games Approach to Coaching video series, which is composed of four videos that will teach you how to incorporate the games approach into four sports — baseball, basketball, soccer, and volleyball. About the Editor Since 1981 the American Sport Education Program has provided educational opportunities for more than 625,000 coaches, parents, and sport administrators through its multilevel curriculum.

Networking and Online Games

Networking and Online Games

$110

The computer game industry is clearly growing in the direction of multiplayer, online games. Understanding the demands of games on IP (Internet Protocol) networks is essential for ISP (Internet Service Provider) engineers to develop appropriate IP services. Correspondingly, knowledge of the underlying network’s capabilities is vital for game developers. Networking and Online Games concisely draws together and illustrates the overlapping and interacting technical concerns of these sectors. The text explains the principles behind modern multiplayer communication systems and the techniques underlying contemporary networked games. The traffic patterns that modern games impose on networks, and how network performance and service level limitations impact on game designers and player experiences, are covered in-depth, giving the reader the knowledge necessary to develop better gaming products and network services. Examples of real-world multiplayer online games illustrate the theory throughout. Networking and Online Games::; Provides a comprehensive, cutting-edge guide to the development and service provision needs of online, networked games.; Contrasts the considerations of ISPs (e.g. predicting traffic loads) with those of game developers (e.g. sources of lag/jitter), clarifying coinciding requirements.; Explains how different technologies such as cable, ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) and wireless, etc., affect online game-play experience, and how different game styles impose varying traffic dynamics and requirements on the network.; Discusses future directions brought by emerging technologies such as UMTS (Universal Mobile Telephone Service), GPRS (General Packet Radio Service), Wireless LANs, IP service Quality, and NAPT/NAT (Network Address Port Translation/Network Address Translation); Illustrates the concepts using high-level examples of existing multiplayer online games (such as Quake III Arena, Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, and Half-Life 2). Networking and Online Games will be an invaluable resource for games developers, engineers and technicians at Internet Service Providers, as well as advanced undergraduate and graduate students in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Multimedia Engineering.

Computer and Online Games in Germany

Computer and Online Games in Germany

How to Strategically Evaluate Germany. Perhaps the most efficient way of evaluating Germany is to consider key dimensions which themselves are composites of multiple factors. Composite portfolio approaches have long been used by strategic planners. The biggest challenge in this approach is to choose the appropriate factors that are the most relevant to international planning. The two measures of greatest relevance to computer and online games are “latent demand” and “market accessibility”. The figure below summarizes the key dimensions and recommendations of such an approach. Using these two composites, one can prioritize all countries of the world. Countries of high latent demand and high relative accessibility (e.g. easier entry for one firm compared to other firms) are given highest priority. The figure below shows two different scenarios. Accessibility is defined as a firm’s ease of entering or supplying from or to a market (the “supply side”), and latent demand is an indicator of the potential in serving from or to the market (the “demand side”). Framework for Prioritizing Countries. Demand/Market Potential Driven Firm. Relative Accessibility. Accessibility/Supply Averse Firm. In the top figure, the firm is driven by market potential, whereas the bottom figure represents a firm that is driven by costs or by an aversion to difficult markets. This report treats the reader as coming from a “generic firm” approaching the global market – neither a market-driven nor a cost-driven company. Planners must therefore augment this report with their own company-specific factors that might change the priorities (e.g. a Canadian firm may have higher accessibility in Canada than a German firm). Latent Demand and Accessibility in Germany. This report provides a detailed overview of factors driving latent demand and accessibility for computer and online games in Germany. Latent demand is largely driven by economic fundamentals specific to computer and online games. This topic is discussed in Chapter 2 using work carried out in Germany on behalf of American firms and authored by the United States government (typically commercial attachés or similar persons in local offices of the U.S. Department of State). I have included a number of edits to clarify the information provided. Latent demand only represents half of the picture. Chapter 2 also deals with micro-accessibility for computer and online games in Germany. I use the term “micro” since the discussion is focused specifically on computer and online games. Chapter 3 is also a stand-alone report that I have authored. It covers proxy pro-forma financial indicators of firms operating in Germany. I use the word “proxy” because the provided figures only cover a “what if” scenario, based on actual operating results for firms in Germany. The numbers are only indicative of an average firm whose primary activity is in

It was created by Paul Weyrich, a key strategist for the paleoconservative movement. At its peak, it claimed to reach more than 11 million homes. Like many conservatives, Weyrich has long believed that the mainstream news and entertainment media exhibit a liberal bias. Digital Korea: Convergence of Broadband Internet, 3G Cell Phones, Multiplayer Gaming, Digital TV, Virtual Reality, Electronic Cash, Telematics, Robotics, E-Government and the Intelligent Home

$49.95

Digital Korea is a study of the most advanced country for digital convergence, South Korea. Much of what we see in South Korea today sounds like science fiction – but forms the solid reality of life in South Korea today. Thus, it is a great source of ideas and insights which we can learn from. The book discusses a country where every household internet connection has already been upgraded to broadband; where 100 mbit/s speeds are already sold and gigabit speeds already coming; where every phone sold is a cameraphone; where three out of every four mobile subscriptions is a 3G connection; where cars and PCs and mobile phones now ship with in-built digital TVs; where 42% of the population maintain a blogsite and four out of ten have created an avatar of themselves; where over half of the population pay with cellphones and 25% of the total South Korean population have participated inside a multiplayer online game, in fact inside the same multiplayer online game. The stories from South Korea are each more amazing than the last. 50,000 citizen journalists write the national Ohmy News newspaper. While Second Life fascinates western media for its 2 million users, South Korean Cyworld has 20 million users. While we tend to view the 8 million active users of the World of Warcraft as a milestone in massively multiplayer online games, South Korean Lineage already has 14 million active gamers. And perhaps most telling of all – the South Korean government is convinced every Korean home will have a household robot within ten years. Household robots? Not just cleaning our homes and providing security, but reading bedtime stories to our kids and helping them with their homework too. Digital Korea includes chapters on all these issues and more with the state-of-the-art latest products and services described in detail. This is one of the first attempts to understand the current state of digital convergence, ubiquitous computing and the information

It is an educational traffic simulator aimed at kids in schools and all others that are about to drive a car. The game is free of violence and distributed as freeware in Croatia. It is financed via the advergaming concept and with the help of government institutions. The game also promotes human welfare by giving space to the United Nations organizations UNICEF and UNODC for their campaigns. The game takes place in a virtual copy of the city center of the real city of Rijeka , the third largest city in Croatia. The gameplay is simple: players have to deliver goods from a startpoint to an endpoint as fast as possible and yet without making too many driving offences to gain money. Maybe not as much fun as with arcade racing games, but this is an educational project and it should be reviewed as suchit’s valuable for drivers’ education and road safety. The HZTK (Croatian Association of Technical Culture) has awarded its annual prize to the Urban Development team. Also, the game has been given The Award For The Improvement Of Innovation by the HGK (Croatian Chamber Of Economy), the Annual City of Rijeka Prize for outstanding contribution to education and promotion of the City of Rijeka and The Croatian Autoclub Annual Award. The Office of the President of Croatia considered this as a great educational project and the Croatian President Stipe Mesi endorsed it.Urban Jungle was developed by Urban Development Team and supported and promoted by
